If you were following new music last year, you probably came across The Very Best, best described as an African-Western infused band. Their second album Warm Heart of Africa saw them garner attention around the world, helped by sampling an Architecture in Helsinki track, and getting lead singer of Vampire Weekend, Ezra Koenig so sing alongside them on the track Warm Heart of Africa. It really was a great album! A few months ago, they released an entirely free mixtape of 12 songs, which you can grab over at their website. The album/mixtape includes remakes of songs by the likes of Kanye West, Kate Bush, Cee-Lo Green, Billy Idol and LCD Soundsystem, and is definitely worth grabbing!
